Candidate Leaving - Jimmy Carroll
At this point of time within our production Process, we have recently had one of our team members leave, this has put us a little bit behind, however, we have deleted his blog posts and are on target to make up for the the time loss due to our team member not being here.
Editing Techniques Flashbacks
There are several editing techniques that we plan to use, one of them being we plan to create flashbacks, one of the music video's we are looking at using is Justin Bieber's Next 2 You ft Chris Brown.
The music video starts off with Justin and his girlfriend talking when her dad finds them together and takes her away, a couple of shots later and the sky is falling along with buildings and cars exploding, it is then when the flashbacks start, and there are a short bust of flashbacks happening throughout the film for both love story narratives.
Cross-cutting
Another editing technique we liked was the use of cross cutting. There is a lot of cross cutting in Locked Away since there is several story lines going on, however in our music video we would want to keep it down to one story line, but lengthen it out using the flashbacks to throwback to different scenes.
This A2 music video was uploaded 3 years ago, it gained full marks and you can clearly see why with the high quality camera and the creative minds come together, the song and music video is 'Stuck by Canopy Climbers'. It is also an extremely well reviewed and viewed music video with so far over 50,000 reviews and 76 comments.
Its a pop music video with a concept theme, so the music video itself doesn't have many visual links to the lyrics itself however, there are some and its mainly telling a narrative in a different sort of way, one that doesn't have many links between the lyrics and visuals.
The music video does however have some links with the visuals including the upbeat music that goes with the fast paced clouds over a time lapse. It matches up to the beat perfectly along with the line 'Am i alone in feeling what's around the corner?' It cuts to several boys running around a corner chasing another boy, which contradicts itself as its not alone, instead while the boy running is alone, the others have each other and are chasing him.
'You turned the light onto the place that only i know' In this scene it switches to a suburban quite area that all you can see is open field and two tree's with the bright sun reflecting behind the trees and shining brightly on the lens. As its quiet, it suggests that that is the place only he knows and the sun represents the light.

This is the Music Video Analysis Template which we have been
using to write about our music video’s it’s been created to help other members
of the group who had trouble writing about music videos. An example of where
this has been used is Sum 41 – In Too Deep Music Video Analysis, which was made
before we started our new music video.
This table follows Andrew Goodwin’s music video analysis
however we added our own little adaptations to analyses the music videos the
best we can and to be able to include more information than before.
Goodwin’s Music Video looks at whether the music video has…
·Demonstrated Genre Characteristics.
·There is a relationship Between Lyrics and
Visuals.
·The demands of the record label will include the
need for lots of close up of the artist and have a re-occurring visual in their
work.
·There is a frequent notation of looking and
voyeuristic treatment of the female body.
