Music video analysis - Girls

Music Video Analysis – Girl’s

In this document I will be analysing the music video that goes with the 1975 song “GIRLS”. The 1975 are a English indie rock band, who generally are dressed in dark clothes with a black and white filter and in matter of fact at the start of the video the band are discussing that they’re not a pop band and that their style of music doesn’t fit the directors idea of how the music video should look like
The music video follows with this clip with very quick editing cuts of the two guitarists playing their instruments to the song creating the tune of the song, as well as this it cuts to a close up of the lead singers face, showing his facial expressions, from the shot it tells us that he doesn’t look in the mood to shoot the video as it isn’t the way the band wants to film it, this is a reoccurring theme throughout the entirety of the music video.

As well as this, in the video when the opening verse starts the music video introduces female counterparts, dressed in all black underwear, which is one of the defining looks of the band except they’re all women, this is also a reoccurring theme that takes place in the video. During the video  the scene changes to the band and their female opposites in a swimming pool party area, with a variety of bright colours on display which is the opposite of the bands style as they're used to dark colours and parties with alcohol and drugs as opposed to the barbeque party that is shot in the video.
